2024 Heroes for Education 5K is in the books!
We had a great turnout for our Heroes for Education 5K on Saturday, September 14!
Here are some of the winners:
Ryan Helmuth of Garnett, KS won the race with a time of 21.52. In second with a time of 22.29 was Tyler Stockhorst of Belton, MO. Third place went to Joshua Averitt of Lee’s Summit with a 22.36 finish.
Our own superintendent, Dr. Kenny Rodrequez placed first in his division with a time of 25.04.
Congratulations to all the runners and walkers who participated and a huge thank you to our sponsors. Your support helps GEF continue to provide programs and services to the staff and students of the Grandview C-4 School District.

2023 Heroes for Education 5K wrap up
Thank you to all the runners and volunteers who helped make the 2023 Heroes for Education 5K a success October 14, 2023. The event started at 8 a.m. at the Grandview Amphitheater where cool weather prevailed.
First to cross the finish line was Nick Ransom of Grandview with a 21.24 time. Close behind was second place finisher Jeff Grasher of Kansas City with a 21.37 time. The first woman to cross the finish line was Heidi Taylor of Blue Springs with a 24.24 finish.
Nick Ransom of Grandview crossed the finish line first with a 21.24 time and then received his medal.
Other notable finishes included Superintendent Kenny Rodrequez who finished in 8th place, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction Prissy LeMay who finished with a 36.35 time. For a complete list of runners, click here.
Grandview High School and the Physical Education Department was awarded $500 and a Bulldog trophy from the Grandview Education Foundation for having the most participants in the 5K. Principal Dr. VaShawn Smith said the money could be spent on a new portable volleyball net.
This award will be given to the District school with the greatest participation in the race each year.
GEF Former Executive Director Geoff Gerling awards $500 and a Bulldog trophy to GHS Coaches Dan Joiner and Kelsea Gaddy. The High School had the highest number of participants in the 5K.
