Jenna D. Rhodes Memorial Scholarship

Jenna Denise Rhodes attended Grandview C-4 schools starting with kindergarten at Meadowmere. She graduated from Grandview High School in 1997. Jenna then went to Northwest Missouri State to earn a bachelor’s degree and returned to GHS where she taught science and coached tennis. 

After several years teaching at GHS and earning her master’s degree in education at UMKC, Jenna followed her passion for building relationships and communities by moving to Arkansas to attend the Clinton School of Public Service. While there, she earned a master’s degree in public service and a master’s degree in public health. Jenna then used her knowledge and talents to bring people together for change to improve communities across Arkansas.

Jenna’s family established this scholarship in her memory after she died unexpectedly in July of 2019.  Applicants for this scholarship will be considered based on school & community involvement, financial need, and GPA.

Applications are available in the counselor’s office. Applicants must meet the following requirements and include the following information in their application:

-A minimum 2.5 GPA

-Attend a post-secondary institution in the fall

-Have verifiable school and community involvement

-Three letters of recommendation (no relatives - one from school personnel, two from the community)

-An essay explaining how the following quote from Jenna applies to your life goals: “The way to get the meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”
