Jimmy Foy Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Jimmy Foy, a 23-year veteran of the Grandview School District. At the time of his passing in 2018, Jimmy was the Director of Maintenance for the district, but had also worked as Head Custodian at both Grandview High School and Meadowmere Elementary.

Family and friends have contributed to this scholarship in his memory. Jimmy was dedicated to his career and conscientious in his work. He was a powerful, positive influence in the lives of all who knew him.

This scholarship will be awarded based on character, personality, school/community involvement, scholarship, and need. Students applying to a 2-or 4-year college program, as well as technical, trade, certified, or vocational programs are encouraged to apply. Requirements: Two letters of recommendation: one from a non-teaching school district employee, and one from a community member; and a one-page essay about a non-teaching school district employee (i.e., food service, custodial, IT, transportation, maintenance, clerical, or health room personnel) who has inspired them or had a positive impact on their life.

Applications are available in the counselor’s office. Applicants must meet the following requirements and include the following information in their application:

-A minimum 2.5 GPA

-Attend a post-secondary institution in the fall, including technical, trade, certified or vocational program

-Two letters of recommendation (no relatives): one from a non-teaching school district employee, and one from a community member

-A one-page essay about a non-teaching school district employee (i.e., food service, custodial, IT, transportation, maintenance, clerical, or health room personnel) who has inspired them or had a positive impact on their life.
