This scholarship was established in 2006 by friends and family to honor Larry R. Downing, former English teacher, and longtime assistant principal at Grandview High School.  All of Mr. Downing’s professional career as an educator was with the Grandview C-4 School District, where he spent over 37 years encouraging others.

The scholarship criteria of good school citizenship, involvement in school/community activities, financial need, and above average grades are aspects that Mr. Downing believed to be important.
