Lori DeAnda Latinx Scholarship

Upon her retirement in 2021, family and friends of Ms. DeAnda, established this scholarship to honor her 31 years of service to the Grandview School District.

Ms. DeAnda served in many capacities during her years in Grandview.  She was a middle school teacher, high school special education teacher, a counselor at Grandview Alternative School (GAS), District Coordinator for Alternative Services and Principal at the Center for Alternative Instructional Resources (CAIR). She served her last 7 years as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.

Ms. DeAnda wanted all students and staff to have positive experiences in the Grandview C-4 School District and she worked hard to see that happen.

Her scholarship will be awarded to a female of Latinx heritage who will be attending a two- or four-year college, or trade/vocational school. Applicants must be female, of Latinx heritage, excel in the classroom, demonstrate ongoing leadership and service to the community, and have financial need.

Applications are available in the counselor’s office. Applicants must meet the following requirements and include the following information in their application:

-A minimum 3.0 GPA

-An Hispanic Female

-Attend a post-secondary institution in the fall, including a 2-year or 4-year college, or a trade/vocational school

-Three letters of recommendation (no relatives)

-A essay to explain the applicant’s future goals and their plans on how to achieve those goals.
