Charles Criniere Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

To honor the memory and work of Charles Criniere, his colleagues established this scholarship in 2023. Mr. Criniere served as a dedicated math teacher at GHS for 9 years and Martin City K-8 for 1 year before his passing. Charles created a WELCOMING environment and was passionate about inspiring today’s youth to BELIEVE in themselves and AIM HIGH towards accomplishing their dreams, or personal goals. Charles dedicated his life to service for others. 

Applications are available in the counselor’s office. Applicants must have and include the following information in their application:

-A minimum 2.5 GPA

-Attend a post-secondary institution in the fall

-Participate in one or more sports activities (cheerleading included)

-Have verifiable volunteer experience

-Display a positive attitude/energy, have integrity, and commitment to the success of all around them

-Two letters of recommendation (no relatives) which focus on the applicant’s character and or contributions to the class or community

-A two-page essay that describes your future goals, how a role model has impacted your life and also explains how you envision yourself making an impact on other young aspiring individuals after graduation.

Charles Criniere is pictured with his wife, Megan. Criniere was killed in a hit-and-run crash Sat. Aug. 27, 2022, when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Kansas City.
